about us

InTheStudio evolved from two years of podcast programs founder Patrick O'Heffernan hosted for the Skoll Foundation's independent online community, SocialEdge.org, in 2006. At the time podcasting had not gained the popularity it now enjoys. Patrick applied the skills he gained as a print journalist and radio producer for "All Things Considered Saturday" on NPR and his years of experience in the non-profit and social entrepreneur world to engage people in the kinds of programming that audiences love. The socialedge.org podcast, produced by Patrick and Brian Butler, quickly became a top favorite on iTunes' Non profit and Government downloads, reaching number 1 on occasion and remaining consistently in the top 25.

Although socialedge.org discontinued podcasting and videocasting for technical reasons in mid-2008, Patrick's podcasts had gained a worldwide audience and attracted non profits, advertising agencies and authors as a way to promote their messages to a desirable audience at a fraction of the cost of other media. Knowing there were people who needed and wanted their services, Patrick and Brian decided to launch InTheStudio in Fall of 2008. They were joined by Patrick's wife, the former Vice President of Audience Research for CNN who had served as a market research executive for CNet, TechTV and PRN (and a voice talent in her own right), and the Core Team was born.

What. InTheStudio is a business that blends Media, Conversation, Advocacy, Community and Hope.
We interview people and produce podcasts for the non-profit and forprofit worlds, we advise people and organizations on getting their messages noticed online, we advocate for things we believe in, and we introduce our friends to our friends -building community across lines. We charge for our services, but we always try to offer the highest quality products that achieve results more expensive media and marketing cannot achieve. We are social entrepreneurs and much of what we do is for social entrepreneurs.

Mission: Use our talents and resources to help people and organizations improve the quality and sustainability of life through information, advocacy, community and technology. Embedded in what we do is the notion of sustainability. From the solar panels on our roof to the hybrid in our carport, we keep sustainability in mind all the time in terms of who we work for and how we accomplish our tasks and our goals.
